7 Signs You Might Have Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are elusive pests that can go unnoticed until an infestation becomes severe. Recognizing the early signs is crucial for prompt action. One of the most common indicators is waking up with itchy red bites, often arranged in a line or cluster. These bites can cause discomfort and disrupt sleep.

Another sign is the presence of small blood stains on your sheets or pillowcases, resulting from crushed bed bugs after feeding. You might also notice dark or rusty spots of bed bug excrement on mattresses, bedding, and walls. Shed skins and eggshells, which are tiny and pale yellow, can be found in areas where bed bugs hide.

A musty odor, caused by the bugs’ scent glands, may be noticeable in heavily infested areas. Additionally, live bed bugs, which are small, brownish insects about the size of an apple seed, may be seen in the seams of mattresses or cracks in furniture.

Regular inspection of sleeping areas, especially after traveling or purchasing second-hand furniture, can help detect these signs early. Prompt identification and professional treatment are essential to prevent the infestation from spreading.
